FAQ

DO I NEED ART EXPERIENCE?

NO!!!!

This work is available for anybody who is open and willing to try something new and explore. That's it. Everybody is welome just as you are regardless of experience or comfort with the arts. No need to have, be, or do anything else than that. The beautiful thing about this process is that it is all centered around your own unique way of doing it. There is no right or wrong. There is no good or bad here. There is just a creative process. And in each creative process there is plenty of information and richness for us to learn from.

HOW HAVE I BEEN HELPING CLIENTS?

I’ve guided clients from inaction to action, helping them shift from self-bullying to appreciating and accepting their unique paths to change. I've assisted them in releasing judgments and living more authentically. I help them recognize the gifts within their struggles and lean into trust when they feel scared, and compassion when they feel angry. I've supported them in pursuing meaningful projects, nurturing their creativity, and embracing their inner artist and researcher. Instead of suffering through healing, I help them play through it, reducing stress and gaining control over their emotions and thoughts. I've helped clients connect to their intuition, trust their desires, communicate effectively, and foster loving relationships, even in challenging situations. I've been there for them as they grieve loved ones and gain clarity on their life goals. I've helped them become aware of their body's wisdom, expand their imagination, and explore new possibilities. I've nurtured their strengths, helped them overcome depression and anxiety, and discover more of who they truly are

WHAT SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY INITIAL CONSULTATION?

There is nothing you need to prepare for your session. Just arrive wearing comfortable clothing you can move around in bring a pen and paper, and take some time to think over your intention. What was it that inspired you to get in touch, and what are you wanting to gain from our sessions together?

DO YOU INTERPRET MY ART?

Expressive Arts does not use psychological frameworks to interpret artwork. Instead we stay grounded in the present moment noticing what is occurring in the lived space. We pay close attention to the artwork, sensations, emotions, thoughts, and reactions that are happening as we engage in the space together. From this perspective we identify resources that you can apply back into your everyday life.

HOW FREQUENT WILL SESSIONS BE?

Many people ask me what  the frequency of our sessions are? The answer is whatever you would like it to be. I have some clients who like to meet every week, some like to meet every other week, some like to meet once a month, and some reach out to me every once in a while. All are welcome! We can discuss this and see what feels good to you.

WHAT MATERIALS DO I NEED?

The beautiful thing about working online is that we will use whatever you have at home. If you would like to get some art supplies (paint, paper, pastels, scissors, magazines, instruments, etc.) you can, but it is not necessary. We use what we have. We might make a ketchup painting or a rock mandala. There are always plenty of resources available regardless of the environment or situation we are working with.

WILL WE TALK DURING THE SESSION?

Yes. The arts are combined with verbal communication to give the client the maximum range of expression. Generally, each session begins with 15-20 minutes of dialogue before entering into the creative realm. At the end of the session we will also discuss what occurred and together we will crystalize new learnings and experiences for you to integrate into your topic of focus.
